Review/FOTD: Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess SunBlush Illuminator, Limited Edition, Summer 2009

Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess SunBlush Illuminator,

Limited Edition, Summer 2009

This stock picture doesn't do its justice at all!
The real product is so much prettier!

Product Description:

Shimmering sun-kissed color to enhance your tan.

Hint of Warm Color

Wear SunBlush Illuminator alone or over your favorite bronzer. Play with multi ways to get your glow on:

- Use center shade as blush. Sweep from middle of ear toward tip of nose.

- For a more dramatic glow, swirl both shades together and apply to apple of cheek and down center of face. - Estee Lauder

Colour/Texture:

This is the real McCoy!

Look Closer...

If this is not a beautiful palette, I don't know what is!

No shimmery over-spray that dies in one swipe. No ridiculous small parts testing my application skills. Just a simple design with all the essential colours that bring out the cheer in your cheeks! No punt intended. I've skipped the swatches as I failed to capture a good shot. Please have a look at my happy FOTD. I really love the slightly shimmered soft warm peach on me. Feels weightless too.

Most recent FOTD with this palette.

I have not been so happy with a blush palette for ages. The moment I opened the palette, I knew this was my kind of blush and highlighter in one. Upon testing, it is very pigmented and the texture is so fine and smooth. No flying power either. And it is super easy to use this palette too. With a Skunk Brush (as good colour payoff), you can sweep up all colours mixed and puff it onto your cheeks. It's a perfect go-to-blush compact.

My palette has been highly utilized since I got it. I have been ignoring my Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blushes and HG Make Up For Ever Compact Shine On 5 (highlighter) combination. I just reach for this palette more often than others now. I guess I have to play with this new toy till I get sick of it before going back to old loves.

I have no problem singling out the outer ring as a highlighter. I just have to use a smaller brush for this purpose. You know what I use to apply this palette? It's this small Shu Uemura Portable Cheek Brush! It's the perfect size to use the outer light colour as highlighter without touching the center warm peach circle. Brilliant!

Packaging/Price:

Here are some pictures to show its packaging. Again, All Estee Lauder Powder Palettes are of the same size and shape. Therefore, this one is exactly the same as all the rest.

Honestly, I think the colours, bronze and seaform green selected for the packaging are hideous ! They don't match with the content. And the packaging design is crap too. If I didn't see the powder inside, I wouldn't have been bothered to get this palette. Just what were they thinking when they created this packaging?

It's so big that I almost can't hold it with one hand.

What you see is what you get. There is no added brush or sponge. So take our your trusting blush/highlighter brushes for this palette. I think most brushes included in such palettes are of little use anyway. Therefore, this will not be a deciding factor for me.

The powder weighs 0.45oz. / 13g. Again, same weight as all other powder palettes from Estee Lauder. This is still retailed for $32USD. Most definitely a bargain!

I think Estee Lauder Powder Palettes are of great value for the prices. They are big and weighty and not too expensive. When the colour and texture of a specific palette work for you, don't hesitate to get it. It will last for a long time. You can see that Estee Lauder doesn't raise the price for this limited edition palette. Just the same old $32USD.

My Verdict:

I will rave about this palette over and over again as it's just that perfect! I love it's colouring, finishing and texture. And it is most lasting! I've napped with it on (pressed against the sheets) and still woke up to a cheeky face! :P (I know I shouldn't have slept with makeup on but I fell asleep without realizing it! Slap me if you want!)

The packaging is less to desire. In fact, it is down right ugly by my book. If you can beyond that, you are going to be dazzled by a most beautiful blush of the year! I am quite sure this will make it to my Top Ten List this year. It's that wonderful. I even plan to by another one as a gift or backup (which I probably don't need) when it is released in Malaysia later.

Unfortunately this is once again, a limited edition item. So please rush to check it out, if you like what you've seen in my post. Don't be alarmed by it's being an Estee Lauder which has been falsely accused as old ladies' makeup brand. (Well, I am not young so I guess it's party true, eh?) Young or old, this is a very natural peach flush that everyone with my skin tone can wear well.

Nope, I don't get a dime from Estee Lauder to say so. It's just a fabulous product that you simply can't miss!

Off you go!

This looks amazing on you! And you've convinced me enough - EL needs to pay you for the great promo if I end up with this LOL Do you think it would look good with someone of my skin tone?

Thank you all!The Mighty J: If you are about my skin tone or even lighter, I think you can easily pull it off. :)

Cheryl: Not sure where you are but I asked my friend in teh US to buy this for me. I think she just ordered it from EL. If you are in Malaysia, you just have to wait for a little bit longer as it should come to us soon. But only in places like KLCC, Pavilion, and Gardens. HTH

I bought this based on your reviews. Had to go to Ebay for it. It arrived yesterday and I really like it. I had to admit that I actually like the packaging too :-)

nazliman: I apoligize for the late reply. I think this should be released by now? *_* Sorry!

Zulfa: Yay! Glad it works for you too! I just realized that the packaging design is to do with breast cancer awareness (I think?) So that probably explains why all the circles... LOL.

I don't have breast cancer awarenes, apparently... :P
