Review: Golla Laptop Backpacks (Flora - Red, Festival - Brown, Chapter - Black, Bloom - Green, Tulip - Gray), 2008 Collection

If you are not reading this on mymakeupreviews.blogspot.com or in a feed reader, this site has stolen my content.

UPDATE 03/November/2008: I bought another Golla! This time in bright red! I really love these bags!

Nope, you are not looking at the wrong site. I am getting out of my comfort zone to write about a bag that I absolutely love and want to spread the words. I am not writing about some fancy bags from Ferragamo, Louis Vuitton, or Burberry. I am writing about laptop backpacks!

I had been buying wrong laptop bags for a long time. NOTHING ever worked right! I had tried Samsonite, Delsey, Tumi, Victorinox and etc. You name it. I think I have tried all the brands out there in the local market but seriously, I disliked them all!!!

I need a bag that can do the following things for me.

1. Light Weight - I don't want a heavy bag for a laptop! Imagine the weight. Grrr. Some bags are so hard and heavy that can't even go up to the plane as carry-ons. Golla Laptop Backpacks are so light that my son can even carry them on his back.

2. Enough Compartments but NOT TOO MANY - I need compartments for storing documents, my 5-year-old son's change clothes, books, toys, water bottle, PSP and without a doubt, my makeup bag! BUT I don't want a bag full of complicated compartments that make me go through each one to search for things. I don't have the patient. My son doesn't have the patient. The immigration police won't have the patient! Trust me. I have learned it the hard way. I once had a Camel Active Backpack that had so many pockets that confused me so much. I chucked that bag away after ONE use. (Let's just say that the immigration in Perth, Australia thought that I carried the bag for others! Translate: This was a person who may be smuggling drugs! Er, you don't want to know what I went through!)

OK, there are 3 major compartments and all of which are quite deep and roomy so there is less chance to have items fallen out or stolen. Believe me, This thin bag can store a lot of things! There is one extra small pocket on the top which I use for storing mobile phone and lip products on the go. Very cleaver!

I didn't realize how convenient it is to have a laptop compartment that opens side way. It really reduces the damage and easier to handle. And it is well padded too.

3. Easy Handling - Many of you may want a thick and sturdy handle. But not me. I want something thin and small but yet strong enough if I am to carry it by the handle instead of putting it on my back. I have a medical condition called Trigger Finger - literally! I have had two sugeries in my life to correct it as it caused a lot of pain. As a result, my fingers aren't as nimble as normal people. Well, I was one of the few who were born with 10 fingers like that! Golla Laptop Backpacks have the best design for my problematic fingers and of course, very small hands too.

4. Trendy - I know this should have been the last requirement (or shouldn't be a requirement at all considering all the above...) But Golla Laptop Backpacks have this extra benefit. They are so very trendy and fashionable. I got Chapter - Black as it's easiest to match with everything under the sun (and it doesn't get dirty as easily.) But I am seriously considering the red and the green or maybe the whole lot! They are just too cute!!!

5. Easy Care - These bags are water resistance and you only need to use a damp cloth to wipe them clean.

By the way, there are also many cute little bags for mobile phones, MP3 and etc. with even more designs and colours! Please refer to its website for more information. And this page for many pictures of its products. I believe you are going to fall in love with the cute little bags!

And you know what's the best thing about this bag? It's only 199 MYR / 56.5144 USD and it offers a LIFE TIME WARRANTY! In case of any problem, you just need to bring it back along with the receipt and the store will give you a new one or equivalent if it's discontinued.

PS: I bought this at ALL IT Hypermarket (Ikano) but I know it's available in every ALL IT outlets and many other stores, too.

I PROMISE MY NEXT POST WILL BE A MAKEUP REVIEW!

For the reason of portability I got myself a tiny little PC which I love to death even if its really too tiny for anything else. But the bag you showed seems to suit my purpose for a short travel trip I have coming up. I love the idea of the useful compartments! Will try to check it out ASAP! :)

MMm the brown one looks so yummy!! I love these~ Laptop bags are usually very ugly, but not these! :D I'd list style as my top requirement... hahaha.

parisb: I guess I am always carrying a lot of odds and ends so I need a bag of such roomy compartments yet light weight. I am always on the run because of my son so a backpack suits me better than a sling version. I hope you pay the store a visit to see if they work for you. We are lucky to have the entire range of Golla products. One of the few brands that actually keep up the speend with its original country (Finland in this case.)

fuzkittie: I nearly got that brown! But I am chicken so i opted for the black. Most of my bags are black. Too boring! I think I am going to get that bright green as the interior is sooooo bright and I feel so happy just look at it. (However, my son asked me to get the RED one!)

I've been looking for a laptop bag! Thanks for the review. As usual they're twice the price in Japan as the U.S. so I'll have to get one when I visit.

charlieee and kuri: I hope you get your hands on these bags soon. They are too good to pass. I am getting another one soon. I just can't decide on colours! LOL

Golla is getting ok here in the Philippines, I have the small pouch for mobile phones, but this one is really cute! I love bags that aren't too huge and you can put a lot of stuffs in it, quite compact and multi-functional :) I have to check this out too! My laptop bag is HUGE! lol

askmewhats: I never think that mobile phone pouch of any use to be honest. i will be too slow to answer the calls if I have to take my phone from a pouch then from a bag because I don't want to hang the pouch on my neck. HAHAHAHA. but these backpacks are totally fantastic. everything i asked for is in it. just too difficult for me to choose colours.

i am also interested in the sling bags but those cause more pain on my shoulders so i am still at thinking stage.

My new job requires me to carry my laptop with me wherever I go so I've been trying to select the right bag. After websearching for days, I found the very cute Golla series, and your great review just convinced me that THIS IS THE BAG FOR ME!!! I'm ordering it today!

I've got the red one. How come mine doesn't come with the Golla ring?

jojoba said...

Nicole: I did state that the red bag has a velcro instead of a ring hole on the picture> :) I think they are all different.

I have checked out the site and there are new designs already. I wish our local dealer gets new ones soon as I am eyeing on them already!

It's just me: I have posted another review of Golla's new collection of 2009 few days ago. Not sure if you saw that post? I have updated its link attached to this post so you can check it out. The new design is different now but equally as interesting.

Hope it helps to decide which to get. And thank you for visiting my blog.

Thanks for all the photos. Sadly, it didn't help me narrow down which one I want... Just verified that I definitely want one. Amazingly, now that I have decided this, one of the photo stores here has them on sale amazingly cheap (do I care if it's last year's model? Noooooo!)

jojoba said...

SheDevilBiker: Personally, I prefer the design (mechanism) of the 2008 OLD style!!! So you did VERY WELL!!! Hope you like it as much as I do. Which one did you get by the way? :)))

I bought the apple green one last week after reading your blog. I gotta give credit to your blog, you've save me over 50 bucks (RM 150)!!
I love this bag, it's cool and my friends like it too.

AL: No problems. Glad my review helped. but... where did you get it for 150MYR??? is it because it's onsale due to the new collection (design) of 2009? I know someone who is interested in the green so that's why I am asking! Thanks
