Review: Colonial Dames Pure Vitamin E Oil

If you are not reading this on mymakeupreviews.blogspot.com or in a feed reader, this site has stolen my content.

UPDATE 23/August/2008:
This is a picture of the Natopherol Dermal Vitamin E Oil Capsules (click for its review) I use when I am on the go or when my skin needs extra boost. There are also day (yellow box with SPF 15) and night (blue box) versions. You can click on the picture to read about these products. It is indicated these capsules are for external use only so they aren't the kind of vitamin E supplement you ingest for health benefit. Therefore, I also don't use them on my lips.

I have been using Colonial Dames Pure Vitamin E Oil on a regular basis for many years. I was first introduce to this product by my brother-in-law (back when my husband was just my boyfriend more than 12 years ago...) He was suffering from pronounced acne scars and his dermatologist suggested him trying out this to help healing. After he used this Pure Vitamin E Oil nightly for about 1 month plus, his face’s really cleared up! The dermatologist suggested him using this because of his very sensitive and dry skin (so there weren’t many suitable drugs for him to ingest.) Pure Vitamin E Oil is very simple with just ONE ingredient - Tocopheryl Acetate (Pure Vitamin E). I was sold upon seeing his NEW FACE!

This product has helped minimizing scars and fine lines for me. I didn’t believe in Coca Butter and other products in the market that claimed to help easing cellulite as none of those helped my families and friends who had tried them. So I opted for Pure Vitamin E Oil during and after my pregnancy as I had seen real life result on my brother-in-law’s face.

During my entire pregnancy, I applied it on my thighs, backsides and belly religiously and I continued doing so for nearly 1 year after I had a Caesarean delivering my son. Perhaps you could say that I am just lucky after putting on 23.50kg, and lost that much of weight back, I still don’t have any cellulites anywhere on my body. I can’t prove this oil is the reason why I don’t have any cellulites. Nor can I say that it helped healing that long Caesarean scar along my bikini line till only ¼ of it left. The scar slowly disappeared/faded within one year. Though not completely, I am satisfied with the result.

I have also been using this around my eyes as an "eye cream" and I think this is far better than any of the eye cream that I have tried. It's an overall anti-wrinkle, pore minimizing, skin moisturizing/repairing product in my opinion. I've been using this on my lips as a night treatment as my lips are dry and easily chapped (and can bleed in harsh winter) and indeed, it "resurfaced" them overnight. This is also great as a transparent lip gloss when you want a naturally-glossy-lips look. These are just the ways I use this oil. I have read others using this oil for different purposes but since I haven't tried those, I'd skip them for the time being.

The followings are the details of this product:

What Colonial Dames Pure Vitamin E Oil does:

Fast Acting Moisturizer - This is good for all skin types as it’s a very simply form. However, it is MOST effective for very dry skin

Pharmaceutical Grade Vitamin E

Softens Scars & Rough Dry Skin

Dermatologist Tested As An Inherent Powerful Anti-Oxidant

Free Radical Protection

Promotes Soft Radiant Skin

Resist Aging Signs – fine lines and wrinkles

Certified HPLC ASSAY

And this is Cruelty Free Never Tested on Animals if that is your concern.

Use:
Clean your skin thoroughly before using. Apply a small amount to clean skin and massage in lightly with gentle pats and upward strokes. Leave on overnight.

This is very sticky oil so it is best to use at night. If possible, wear a shower cap! Your face will feel sticky to start with but a glowy and soft one the next morning! I won’t suggest you using this every night! It's simply not practical in my opinion.

You can find Colonial Dames Pure Vitamin E Oil on Colonial Dames Site. I try to buy the highest I. U. (International Unit) I can find as I find it most effective. If you don’t have access to this particular brand, you could try other brands or even Body Shop Vitamin E Oil which is made from pure wheat germ. However, I have tested that for few months but didn’t see as good result as Colonial's.

NOTE: "For some substances, the equivalent mass of one IU is later established. If that happens, the former IU definition for that substance is officially abandoned, in favour of a newly established weight. However, the unit count often remains in use nevertheless, because it is convenient. For example, vitamin E exists in a number of different forms, all having different biological activities. Rather than specifying the precise type and mass of vitamin E in a preparation, for the purposes of pharmacology it is sufficient, simply, to specify the number of IUs of vitamin E. Vitamin E: 1 IU is the biological equivalent of about 0.667 mg d-alpha-tocopherol (2/3 mg exactly), or of 1 mg of dl-alpha-tocopherol acetate ." - International unit

Packaging: I think it is a MUST to get the bottle with a pump as this is such a sticky product! I love how the pump controls the amount dispensed. This is a clear bottle so you can see through it too.

Price: This is a quite cheap at 8.95 USD for a 2.25 fl. oz 30.000 I.U. bottle. It's a very cheap product.

Note: The picture shows a bottle with 35,000 I. U. but it is stated on the back of the bottle that it's been assayed at 28,000 I. U. 35,000 I. U. is due to its 25% more in this packaging. :)

I found this video clip on how Vitamin E Oil's used. In the video, she mentioned that it is applied on her lashes. I haven't tried that but I am going to do it after viewing this!
