Review: Bobbi Brown Pink Satin Collection (Eye Shadow Palette,,Lip Gloss Palette, 3 Mini Brushes And The Pouch)

If you are not reading this on mymakeupreviews.blogspot.com or in a feed reader, this site has stolen my content.

Description (Quoted from Bobbi Brown site):
This special color collection features shades and tools designed to create multiple looks - including the NEW Pink Satin Look. Metallics Palette featuring three of Bobbi's latest velvety, shimmering shadows, shadow nominated for 'Best in Beauty' by CEW.

Lip Gloss Palette with three shimmer and high-shine shades (only available in this set).

Mini Brush and Palette Case crafted in black nylon that holds the entire set and includes three mini brushes: Blush, Eye Shadow, and Lip Brush.

My Experience: This was one of the few Bobbi Brown Collections that actually attracted my attention as Bobbi’s colours were rather monotonous in the past with few sparks occasionally. I was aware the high price tag, but the items looked appealing enough from the pictures I had seen. Thus, I had to check it out in person.

I have to say it’s yet another disappointing spring collection of 2008 and here is why:

Eye Shadow Palette: 3 pale colored satin shades of: almost white pink, pale cool pink and medium taupe. I don’t see why anyone would need that almost white pink. It’s so light that the pink can only be considered as “under tone”. And the other pink is very pale and cool. This does have some pink in it so it can still be qualified as pink. The only colour that is OK is the taupe. It’s rather neutral, neither silvery nor brownish.

Lip Gloss Palette: again, 3 awfully sheer lip gloss in a compact. On the picture, it showed a red, a nude and a pink. In real life, they are almost-transparent-reddish-lip-balm, almost-transparent-nude-lip-balm and sheer pink lip gloss. And I mean just that! Seriously, I didn’t see the red showed up on me, neither did the nude do anything. The only shade that could be considered as a lip gloss would be the pink as it does show some degrees of pink. And it was an ordinary pink mauve.

3 Mini Brushes And The Pouch: The pouch is a bit bulky as it has to store all the stuff inside (so it’s forgiven.) The brushes are the mini blush, eye shadow and lip brush. They are the mini version of the full sized products. The up side is that the bristles are the same size as the originals. They just have shorter handles. However, judging from my personal experience, these brushes are of average quality.

OK, now the price! Why oh why do they have to sell this as a set for 450MYR??? Come on, many of us have already had several of Bobbi Brown’s mini brush sets of this and that (as they tend to be recycled.) I was merely interested in the Eye Shadow Trio, to be honest. I pretended that I was ONLY interested in buying that lip palette and the sales assistance told me that one of her regular clients ordered the set but was reluctant to get the lip palette. Therefore, IF I really wanted that lip palette, she could let me have it at 140MYR and I had to pay cash as she had to be accounted for every set. (I was like, "Yeah, right... They must foresee that it’s going to be difficult to sell the whole set so they came up with this scheme.") I thanked her and said I'd think about it then I left the display.

I went home empty handed. Once again, Bobbi Brown’s created another uninspiring collection. I hope I don’t fall for another ad of hers…

I know. Ins't that a bore! I really think they should have just sold everything separately as that high price tag is just going to keep customers away!
